Artroom artists Yvette Bathgate, Amy Benzie and Anna Weir have been working with Healthy Minds to deliver sessions at Bonnymuir Green Community Trust, a community garden that is a short walk from both Royal Cornhill Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The sessions started on the 13th of August and continued for twelve weeks in which people who have accessed services at Royal Cornhill Hospital were offered materials and support from the Artroom artists, and over the weeks they honed their creative talent and each created a body of work.
The sessions culminated in an exhibition of the work done during these sessions. The Artroom at Bonnymuir exhibition was in the Belmont Filmhouse Kino Café Bar from the 5th – 12th of November 2022.
This exhibition showcases the work created by artists who joined Artroom. Some are showing their first-ever paintings, others tried different ceramics techniques and glazes. Many took inspiration from the surrounding gardens of flowers, fruit and vegetables, bees and frogs.
