Environmental Connections

New display from the GHAT Collection
Sustain:Engage

A new exhibition of work from the GHAT Collection has been curated by Willow Daymond and Emma Hurley Warren as part of GHAT’s Sustain:Engage project. It is now on display in the Pink Zone corridor on Level 2 in ARI.

The selected works reflect the beauty of the North East while exploring the many ways people, place, and environment shape one another. In the face of rising climate change, these pieces bring to mind the comforting power of nature, encouraging visitors to spend time in their environment.

By inviting us to explore landscapes, memories, and stories rooted in the North East, the exhibition positions the hospital not as a separate space, but as an intrinsic part of its environment, fostering a sense of comfort, responsibility, and connection.

As an independent charity, GHAT works collaboratively with its community to ensure its artworks and practices remain relevant, responsive, and reflective of place, while maintaining a commitment to environmental responsibility.

The placements chose some artworks that they were inspired by and wrote about them. Click on an image to go to the page for that artwork and see how each piece is connected to the theme of the environment.

With thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Creative Scotland for supporting this project. Thanks also to Emma and Willow for their time and hard work, and to the University of Aberdeen for our continued collaboration.
