Artroom is collaborating with The Migraine Project in Aberdeen. On Tuesday 20th August, Jenni Minto, MSP for Public Health and Women’s Health visited The Suttie Centre with the groups involved in the project at the special event. Jenni heard from the project staff, consultants and neurology experts, the pharmacy team and patients. Artroom artists Anna Weir and Rebecca Patterson set up an Artroom table for attendees to come and chat about the project and try out some of the art materials.
In September and October, Artroom will be inviting people affected by migraine to attend Artroom sessions and Creative Writing sessions at the Wellbeing Hub in the Bon Accord Centre. Participation in creative activity has a long history of improving wellbeing, confidence and brain health as well as a myriad of therapeutic benefits.
Our Artroom sessions will be facilitated by Artroom artists Anna Weir and Jenny Hood, and the creative writing for wellbeing sessions are with local poet and writer, Jo Gilbert. The sessions will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm and are open to anyone affected by migraines. Booking is through Eventbrite and to book click on the buttons below:
Attendees can book individual workshops or attend all four, as the conversations that take place around the Artroom table can be just as important and as beneficial as creating. We are excited to be involved in the project and we hope to collaborate more in the future.
