Artroom is shining a light on one of our very talented participants who attends not only one, but two of our Artroom projects.
Our Artroom session at Frederick Street Health Village happens every Friday from 10am, with a wide range of participants attending. This session is facilitated by artists Rebecca Patterson and Elaine Grant and is held in the café area beside the reception. Participants can grab a cuppa and try out our materials in a welcoming and open space.
We take referrals from a variety of NHSG staff, but the session is also a drop in – anyone coming to their appointments at the Health Village are welcome to pop in past and try some materials.
One of these people who just popped in, was May and right from the start began working with a broad range of colours and shapes. After attending Artroom at the Health Village for a good number of sessions, May discovered we had started up a session at Aberdeen Art Gallery on a Saturday morning, so she went along to see what it was like. Attending the Friday sessions helped her visit somewhere like the Art Gallery alone, somewhere she would not have had the confidence to go on her own before.
May now attends both Friday and Saturday Artrooms and even has a wander around the gallery beforehand some mornings. She’s created a wonderful body of work that leaves everyone who visits the sessions and passers-by amazed at her creations.
Artroom runs at the Health Village every Friday 10am -12pm and at Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums every Saturday 10.30am-12.30pm.
