Alexandra McGregor, Adrian Reid and Cornhill Primary School P6
The Suttie Arts Space
28 March 2026 – 21 June 2026
Over the past year, Grampian Hospitals Art Trust has been working closely with Cornhill Primary School on a creative project that introduces their P6 pupils to the world of curating an exhibition.
The pupils built their own mini art galleries, and the themes that burst out were sport, gaming, space, the sea – and an unstoppable avalanche of googly eyes. GHAT invited visual and performance artist Alexandra McGregor to collaborate with the pupils in shaping the curatorial brief and developing an exhibition featuring work by Alexandra and illustrator Adrian Reid. Throughout the year, the artists were welcomed to the school and invited the class into Cornhill Community Arts Space and The Suttie Arts Space, to explore with them the things they were interested in.
Alexandra brought Adrian onto the project to help push the pupils’ themes even further. Together, they built a vibrant installation bursting with space and sea energy – planets, fish, astronauts and galaxies – all echoing the pupils’ love of sport, gaming, space, the ocean and, of course, an outrageous number of googly eyes.
This exhibition marks part of a three‑year programme of creative activity with Cornhill Primary School. We are deeply grateful to the staff, pupils, and parents of Cornhill Primary School, as well as the dedicated team at Cornhill Community Arts Space, for their enthusiasm, support, and invaluable contributions to this project.
