b. 1974
Paterson studied at Glasgow School of Art. Finding inspiration in what might seem the most unpromising of places, including the concrete landscapes of post-war housing schemes and the decaying remains of utopian building projects, Paterson’s work stems from an interest in the built environment. His works respond to the interaction between abstraction and reality as he creatively re-imagines architectural spaces.
Exhibiting nationally and internationally, recent exhibitions include ‘Devils in the Making’, GOMA, Glasgow and ‘Thresholds’, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. He lives and works in Glasgow.
