The Small Gallery, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
15 August – 11 October 2026
This exhibition showcases the research, experimentation, and creative development behind Silent, Soft, Birds and Breeze, created by artists Annie Scott and Emily McLatchie, now on display in The Suttie Arts Space. Visitors can explore the ideas, materials, and processes that shaped the final exhibition, gaining insight into each artist’s practice.
Annie and Emily were selected by Grampian Hospitals Art Trust from the 2025 Degree Shows for the Graduate Exhibition Award. Now in its sixth year, the award supports emerging artists across Grampian and Moray, providing two recent graduates with the opportunity to develop and present their work within a hospital environment. Funded by Creative Scotland, the initiative encourages artistic growth while bringing meaningful creative experiences into healthcare settings.

Annie Scott (Moray School of Art) is a textile artist inspired by the patterns, structures, and surfaces of the built environment. Through weaving and drawing, she explores the relationship between architecture and textiles, with a particular interest in how weather and time transform urban spaces. This exhibition offers an insight into her ongoing experiments with texture, pattern, and material.
Emily McLatchie (Gray’s School of Art) works across painting, photography, sound and photography, using foraged and earth-based materials to explore connections with the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the natural materials found in Dumfries and Galloway, her practice centres on slow observation, place, and mindfulness. This exhibition presents a glimpse into her developing research with natural pigments, photography, and landscape-based processes.
