b. 1948
Working in the Mearns area of Aberdeenshire, Nelson graduated from Gray’s School of Art with his MFA in 2008.
The process of making is an integral part of his practice; employing ideas from mathematics and geometry with an aesthetic sensibility to create works which often challenge the boundaries between two-dimensionality and sculpture. The circle and the square are, for him, key elemental shapes which are imbued with a certain power conveying ideas of spirituality and the Infinite and Finite.
