Leiper studied at Gray’s School of Art, specialising in printmaking.  Although formally trained in a fine art context, she swiftly moved towards a unique illustrative style, driven by her lifelong passion for traditional folk tales.  Influenced by Renaissance artists, Leiper’s work focuses largely on storytelling, using colour and images rich in texture and pattern to create an evocative atmosphere.

Recent solo exhibitions include: ‘Nine Lives – An exhibition of work inspired by T S Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, The Red Dot Gallery, Holt, Norfolk; and ‘Celebrating Scotland’s Stories’, The Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh.
