Background
GHAT is an award‑winning charity dedicated to enriching the wellbeing of everyone who spends time in NHS Grampian and associated Health and Social Care facilities. We believe in the transformative power of professional art, especially for people navigating difficult moments in their healthcare journey.
GHAT cares for one of the largest healthcare art collections in Scotland, displaying artworks throughout hospitals across the north east. In 2014, we opened the UK’s only commissioning gallery located within an acute hospital, creating a unique space for contemporary art at the heart of healthcare. Alongside this, we deliver arts and wellbeing sessions that support patients in exploring their own creativity. Over the past 15 years, this programme has grown significantly as the value of arts in health is increasingly recognised as essential to holistic wellbeing.
Artroom
Artroom is a person-centred arts project delivered within a healthcare setting and the community. Artists work with patients in group settings or on a 1-1 basis, using conversation and a range of art books and materials as a guide to begin supporting the participant’s creative journey. Visitors and families are encouraged to participate, often creating work together. GHAT is committed to working with professional artists, creating opportunities for practice and employment. GHAT works closely with NHS staff to improve quality of life and wellbeing for the people who engage with the project.
The roles
For the first six months, both the SCP and CP will train with experienced artists from our existing Artroom projects. Both successful candidates will be paid at CP rate during the six month training and will be paid at SCP/CP respectively after that. Sessions last two hours, with 30 mins set up and clear up times each end, so 3 hours total. Ideally, we are looking for artists based in Moray and the surrounding area. Travel to work is the responsibility of the post holder.
