On a short trip we prodded about a mustard blanket, to see what would fall out. Creamy-Dreamy-Cockatoo is an event involving excerpts of sound and writing on a dubious screenscape. We see this webpage, and our work that lives there together, as fleeting and forever. It will live online for 2 months including our limited edition print-at-home images, after which will then be replaced by a still edit and image description. View the live publication at roughly 50% zoom on your browser size for full effect.

Creamy-Dreamy-Cockatoo is the result of a commission for new work by Emma McCarthy and Emma Nellies in response to the ‘Mustard Blanket’ exhibition by Frances Disley, Flo Gordon and Laura McGlinchey, which was on display at The Suttie Arts Space in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary between 9 July and 2 September 2018. Conceived with consideration of the boundaries and possibilities of the ‘event’ form, this online event-publication includes a sound, a writing, a backdrop and a print at home image, which respond to the task of creating an extended archive for the exhibition. Existing primarily online, the work adds creative interpretation to the already existing photographic and written documentation in order to provide further contexts and possibilities to interact with the show beyond its completion.
Following the rationale on an ‘event’, Creamy-Dreamy-Cockatoo will stay live for exactly 2 months, until 24th March 2019 when it will be replaced by a static archival version.
About the Artists:
As friends and artists Emma N and Emma M also work collaboratively as EMMA (for now), exploring possible processes and benefits of distribution through hosting events and developing publications. For this project they have shaken out and prodded about a mustard blanket and posted what they found online for all to see.
Emma Nellies is an artist and writer currently based in Fife. She takes daily narratives, interactions and reactions and uses them to discuss deeper implications of why, where and what we do in surviving the current post-capitalist climate. She is enjoying how absurd the results become the more realistic she tries to be.
Emma McCarthy lives and works in Dundee. She uses writing, drawing, videos and planning to play out speculative investigations. She is currently interested in using her animosity towards phenomenology/ larger-philosophy and love of cliffhangers and serialised fiction to rejig perceptions of enjoyment and f-u-n.
