ArtRoom is a person centred arts project. GHAT has two short term posts available, one within Old Age Psychiatry at Royal Cornhill Hospital and one in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s hospital. We hope to enhance wellbeing by providing opportunities for participants to engage with a range of art forms, offering them new and inspiring challenges and enabling individual creative development. The project aims:Barbara1 - NeuroRehab - 24-04-13

To enable patients to discover and develop their individual creativity with the support of professional contemporary artists.

  • To use engagement in creative activities to build self esteem and promote personal independence.
  • To raise the profile of the benefits of creative activities in the NHS and beyond.

Two professional artists, one lead and one graduate, work as a team within each location. The graduate artist will be a recent visual arts graduate with a keen interest in developing skills in the arts and health field.

The artists are be required to work closely together to plan and facilitate the creative development of each participant. They will also be required to work alongside the multi-disciplinary team of medical and ancillary staff. Both artists must be able to work on their own initiative and have the ability to communicate well with patients, families and staff.

As graduate artist you will be supported in your role by the lead artist. You will be encouraged to play an equal part in the smooth running of the project and supported in the development of the skills necessary to work in an art and health environment.
