EXHIBITION INFORMATION

SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR EXHIBITION/ ARTIST’S PROJECT

Applications from artists wishing to exhibit at the ARI are always welcome. We are particularly interested in proposals for exhibitions or artist’s projects which would be of interest / include themes relevant to the community of the hospital.

To apply send submission to the above address including the following:

  • Current curriculum vitae
  • At least six slides, jpegs or DVD, video etc of work from the last two years.
  • one page proposal
  • a stamped self-addressed envelope if you require the return of  your support material

Please contact the curator, Anne Moore if you require further advice or information about the nature of your application.

Applications will be viewed by the exhibition steering committee on a regular basis and we respond to all submissions by mail.

EXHIBITION SPACE

The Art Gallery measures approximately 34 x 7 metres, providing 37 linear metres of wall space.  A staircase leads down into the area from the Main Entrance Concourse towards the West. The Main Corridor leads off the area to the east. The light source is mostly artificial with fluorescent ceiling fittings and halogen lamps. Some natural light falls from the glazed concourse wall above. A TV monitor with video/ DVD player is available if required.

SUITABILITY OF ARTWORK

Artwork should be suitable for a hospital environment. GHAT reserves the right not to show any artwork which is deemed unsuitable for exhibition in the hospital environment without further reference to the artist(s).

INSTALLATION

The exhibitor is responsible for transport to and from the venue. The Curators will normally be available to advise and help with hanging. We prefer work to be installed on the walls of the gallery using mirror plates. Please advise if you are unable to provide these.

INSURANCE

The GHAT insurance policy will cover artworks on display, though there is an excess of £250, which would be met equally by GHAT and the exhibitor, unless responsibility could be clearly demonstrated. The Art Gallery is covered by security video cameras but is accessible 24 hours per day so work needs to be well secured and relatively tamper proof.

INSURANCE IN TRANSIT

The artist will be responsible for insuring the work during transportation to and from the GHAT Gallery.

INTERPRETATION

GHAT will produce the exhibition list and any other information to be displayed in the Art Gallery. The artist will be asked to supply a list of all works with titles and prices, an Artist’s Statement and a current CV. The artist will also be asked to supply an image to be used for the invitation, which will be required two months prior to the exhibition date, along with an appropriate title for the exhibition.

PUBLICITY

GHAT will issue a Press Release and information for listings in local and national papers.  Other ads can be placed by arrangement with GHAT.

PRIVATE VIEW

The Private View is arranged by GHAT. GHAT will arrange for the production of invitations and mailing  to about 500 people on our own list.  About 40 cards are available for the artist’s own use. Refreshments are organised by GHAT for the Private View.

SALES AND COMMISSION

A standard rate of commission is charged at 33.3% of the gross selling price. Artists will receive payment with a statement of sales as soon as all works sold have been paid for (usually within 14 days). GHAT is not registered for VAT.
