#GHATopenexhibition highlight of the week! . This clip is from ‘Syrinx’ by Valentina Lauto, which can be seen in the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust Open Exhibition 2019. ‘Syrinx’ refers to the vocal organ of birds and is a continuation of a previous work, the installation ‘The love speech’, consisting of three parts that relate to the act of speaking: sculpture (lungs), video projection (the larynx with its two vocal cords) and a sound wall (throat, nose, mouth, and sinuses). Both works share the same starting point, which is a collection of vocal messages that Valentina’s partner has sent her since the start of their relationship. . Valentina is originally from Mexico. She graduated from Grays’s School of Art this year and currently studying for an MSc in analytics in order to develop further her interest in the technology behind interactive sculptures. In Gray’s she initially worked in printmaking and sculpture, however over  time Valentina’s work has become more hands on and interactive. Valentina currently works with materials such as concrete, metal and Arduino software, along with maintaining her interest in printmaking and film. .
