Micro art
Welcome to Micro art - an exhibition of microscopic images.
(browse the exhibition on-line at www.abdn.ac.uk/emunit/microart/gallery)
The images on display (micrographs) have been captured over the past 15 years, using a range of imaging techniques, and covering a wide variety of specimens - from cells to crystals and beasties to bugs.
There seems to be a natural fascination for all things microscopic, so I hope that as you browse, you will find something that fascinates you. Perhaps when you leave the exhibition, you will look at that greenfly on your roses in a different light!
To see first hand how some of the images on display have been captured, why not come along to one of our Techfest Technology at Work sessions in September.
I have often been told that I should exhibit my micrographs, and would like to thank Dr Donnie Ross, Anne Moore, Claire Bruce, and Dr Miep Helfrich for the opportunity to do just that. I would also like to thank Carl Zeiss Ltd, JEOL (UK) Ltd and the University of Aberdeen’s College of Life Sciences & Medicine for their sponsorship and support.

Some of the images on display have previously been published in magazines and journals.
Techniques: light and polarised light microscopy, fluorescent microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, and scanning and transmission electron microscopy.
All electron micrographs have been false coloured using Adobe Photoshop.
