A Place to Reflect

This exhibition is the culmination of over two years working at Clyans Dam, in Monymusk.  The Pond or Dam as it is known locally, evoked memories of a similar place in Kent, England, which she explored as a child.  Both Ponds have inspired a wealth of sketches, Clyans Dam being the main source of material used for the two larger works on show.

Having spent some time in the GHAT Gallery, waiting - I wanted to try and transform the area, in effect bring the outside indoors.  To convey something of both places, the ponds in Kent and Clyans Dam, a sense of their space and boundaries, and of light and mystery.

Susie Hunt was born in Hampshire and trained at Canterbury College of Art and West Surrey College of Art and Design in the late 70’s.  She is presently studying for her Masters at Gray’s School of Art.  She was the founder and chair of North East Open Studio, and is a professional member of Aberdeen Artists Society.  Susie has shown in many solo and group exhibitions, and in selected shows such as Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters at the Mall Galleries London, The R.W.S at Bankside Gallery, London, The S.S.A  at the Scottish Royal Academy,  Edinburgh,  Kent Painters Group and Art for Youth North and London.
