This exhibition was presented to coincide with a seminar on the work of Art in Hospital, Glasgow, which was held at Roxburghe House, Aberdeen. As part of the work of Art in Hospital, exhibitions are held regularly both in hospital and city centre venues, and GHAT were delighted to be able to bring this exciting exhibition of work by patients in Glasgow to Aberdeen.
Art in hospital was initiated in 1991 specifically to demonstrate the positive role that the arts could play in the healthcare service. The majority of the work is done in Continuing Care. Currently the project runs in six hospitals and nursing homes in and around Glasgow.
The Project involves patients in a diverse range of art activities such as painting, printmaking, papermaking, glass and textiles. These activities are supported with external visits to Glasgow’s museums and galleries as well as music, books, slides and photographs. Through an ongoing programme of art workshops, patients are allowed the opportunity to fully explore and develop their own creativity.
